Internship

I am beginning week three of my Summer Youth internship at my home Church, Camden Baptist in Ohio. It has been a good experience thus far.
  • I am blessed to be able to interact a great deal with our two Pastors and I have been gaining a lot of insight from my time with them. I was able to attend a OARBC Council of 12 Meeting with Pastor Larry and see how the State Regular Baptist Convention operates. I have gotten to pray and study with both pastors on several occasions which has been awesome.
  • I have been co-leading what I call "the Ultimate Evangelistic Bible Study" I gets its name from the fact that we play Ultimate Frisbee, study the Bible, and invite unsaved friends. We are teaching about Redemptive History and O.T./N.T. parallels. I think it is a little different than a lot of the guys (and girls who will come soon I hope) have studied the Bible in the past.
  • I have met and had lunch with two Former Summer Youth Interns who are now pastors in our immediate area. It is exciting to see that in a few years I can be in a similar position serving God in this area or a far off land like NY or something. Both guys reassured me of my current thinking on Seminary (I will talk about that at a later date) I found that comforting, coming from guys already in the ministry who took similar paths as i am now on.
  • I have been helping lead a Praise Team which is trying to start here at my church. It has been difficult at times already and we have not even participated in our first service. the main challenge will be working with people who's styles are very different to get them to modify in order to work with one another.
  • I am teaching a class for our V.B.S. which is called "Man in Demand" it basically is a crash course for 7th and 8th graders to either refresh or introduce the idea of biblical manhood and the practical working out of that in their lives through high school and beyond. It is a very practical type of class and I am hoping to draw out some overarching principals and draw some Gospel applications.

I would ask that you pray for me as I try to do my best and learn as much as I am able this summer.

Peace Be With You

Nate
